This is the retreat we run for travellers who arrive holding too much and need somewhere to set it down properly. Not a spa break dressed up as a programme, a structured five-night arc with a named Wellbeing Practitioner, an eight-pillar framework, and a personalised take-home guide that makes the practice portable. Our job is to make the space around the programme invisible, so the programme can do its work. Pai Dai runs the Thailand logistics end to end: airport meet-and-greet, private transfers along the Samui coastal road, the curated private sea day aboard Banyan Tree's own Sense of the Sea boat, and a single contact who holds the whole trip. The resort's Wellbeing Practitioner, Bikram Keshari Patra, runs the programme itself, reading each guest's baseline on arrival and adjusting the daily itinerary accordingly. The eight pillars, Rest, Nourishment, Connection, Movement, Mindfulness, Growth, Groundedness, Practice, give the stay a spine without making it rigid. Five nights is the sweet spot. It unlocks the full complement of complimentary treatments, a 60-minute body treatment for two and a 60-minute Rainforest hydrotherapy experience for two, and gives the arc enough room to move: grounding, sea day, nourishment, integration, departure. The Wellbeing Sanctuary holds only eight villas. We book early and we book with purpose.

Arrival & First Assessment

1

Arrival & First Assessment

Morning

Private airport meet-and-greet by your Pai Dai host. The transfer from Samui Airport runs roughly 19 kilometres along the coast, a private vehicle, no shared coach, no waiting for other passengers. Check-in to your Wellbeing Sanctuary Pool Villa is handled before you reach the door: a 35sqm infinity pool, a Villa Host who already knows your name, and an in-villa smartphone connecting you to the property. The first hour is yours.

Afternoon

Your structured arrival assessment with Wellbeing Practitioner Bikram Keshari Patra, not a wellness questionnaire but a working conversation about your health baseline, sleep quality, stress load, and what you want this week to do. From this, your five-day programme is shaped to you specifically, not to a template. Your Wellbeing Passport is opened and the daily itinerary takes its first form.

Evening

The first nightly rest ritual, prepared in-villa by your Villa Host, in-villa wellbeing amenities and an introduction to the Beyond app. Banyan Tree's sleep-enhancement setup is calibrated to your assessment. An early night is encouraged; the transition starts tonight, not tomorrow morning.

Grounding, Movement, Water & Stillness

Grounding, Movement, Water & Stillness

Morning

Movement work opens the week with a choice from the morning timetable: Yoga Asana or Sun Salutation in the resort's open-air setting, or Tai Chi if the body is asking for something slower. Both are complimentary; both count toward the eight pillars. Bikram reviews your first night's rest and adjusts the day's rhythm accordingly. Your daily balanced breakfast follows.

Afternoon

A 60-minute Rainforest experience for two at the award-winning spa, the hydrothermal and hydrotherapy circuit earned at the five-night threshold, not an upsell. Afterward, the daily afternoon nutrition platter, taken in-villa or at the spa terrace.

Evening

A Sound Bath or Sleep Meditation from the weekly timetable, a structured guided session, not ambient background noise. Your nightly rest ritual is reset in-villa while you are at the session. Early close.

If the season shifts

The Rainforest circuit and all indoor programme elements operate year-round, regardless of Gulf weather conditions.

Gulf of Thailand, private charter

The Sea Day, Sense of the Sea

Morning

A beachfront transfer from Banyan Tree's private beach to your dedicated vessel, a private 12-metre speedboat, 2.8 metres wide, configured for your group only (up to 18 persons including crew). This is not a shared tour. An English-speaking Banyan Tree Leisure Host is aboard, with snorkelling and fishing equipment, life vests, insurance, and park fees included. We steer toward Ang Thong Marine Park for a full-day private charter, the route chosen to give the strongest contrast with the on-property days.

Afternoon

Snorkelling off the boat, fishing lines out if the group wants them, lunch served on board alongside local beverages and snacks. The Leisure Host handles everything. The Gulf of Thailand in this latitude is a different pace from anything available on the resort grounds, and the sea day sits mid-retreat by design, the hinge between the opening grounding days and the integration work to come. Connection and Groundedness do some of their best work here.

Evening

Back at the villa by late afternoon, the nutrition platter waiting. Bikram has anticipated the physical tiredness and lengthened tonight's rest ritual accordingly.

If the season shifts

In the Gulf's wetter season (October to December), we re-route to the calmer leeward options, Around Koh Samui or the Five Islands Sunset Cruise, which operate in most conditions. Ang Thong is weather-dependent and rescheduled if seas are unsuitable.

Nourishment, Kitchen, Breath & the Body
Koh Samui, Banyan Tree Samui
4

Nourishment, Kitchen, Breath & the Body

Morning

A morning built around the Nourishment and Movement pillars. The Hearty Recipes cooking workshop in the resort's kitchen draws on the same food philosophy that runs through the wellbeing cuisine, followed by the Healthy Cold-Pressed Juice session. The programme is designed so guests take these skills home, not just the memory of them. Bikram checks in to read energy levels after the sea day. Breakfast included.

Afternoon

Breathwork in the afternoon, Ocean Breath or a Breathing Exercise from the timetable, guided. This is the session most guests underestimate on arrival and talk about most on departure. The Aromatherapy & Aromatic Potpourri workshop is also on today's timetable, a sensory practice sitting inside the Mindfulness pillar. The afternoon nutrition platter closes the active part of the day.

Evening

A Conscious Grounding session, then a Gratitude Meditation from the weekly programme, lighter and reflective, placed on night four once the physical and nourishment work has had time to settle. By now the rest ritual is no longer unfamiliar; it has become the signal the body recognises.

If the season shifts

All day-four activities are held on-property and are unaffected by Gulf weather conditions.

Integration, Personal Spa & Grounding
Koh Samui, Banyan Tree Samui
5

Integration, Personal Spa & Grounding

Morning

The earned 60-minute body treatment for two, complimentary from the five-night threshold, already arranged: no queuing, no booking pressure. Treatment selection is aligned with your programme arc. This is the difference between a resort spa booking and a programme-integrated treatment. A Sense of Nature Walk on the resort grounds afterward, unhurried and guided.

Afternoon

Unstructured time at the private beach or villa pool, with the house reef accessible directly from the shore, no boat required. The afternoon nutrition platter is in-villa. The integration day carries no fixed obligations after the morning treatment, by design: integration rather than accumulation.

Evening

A Sound Bath or Sleep Meditation closes the programme's formal activity sequence. Bikram prepares your personalised take-home wellbeing guide, a written record of what was assessed, what shifted, and what to carry forward. The final nightly rest ritual is the most considered of the five.

If the season shifts

The private beach and house reef are accessible in most weather; the afternoon shifts to indoor alternatives if conditions require.

Departure & The Guide Home

Departure & The Guide Home

Morning

Final balanced breakfast, then a brief with Bikram to walk through your personalised wellbeing guide, a document built from five days of daily observation, adjusted programme notes, and continuity recommendations for the weeks after you leave. This is not a generic printed sheet; it reflects the specific arc of your stay. Your Villa Host manages checkout around your flight, not the resort's convenience.

Afternoon

Pai Dai's private transfer collects you from the villa, flight details cross-referenced by your contact the evening before, nothing to arrange at checkout. Airport drop at Samui, 19 kilometres. The Beyond app remains active and the Wellbeing Passport travels with you.

Evening

If the season shifts

For guests extending into Vietnam, a wellness or nature leg can follow Koh Samui as a single two-country journey, one operator, one point of contact, handled by the same Pai Dai team. The extension is optional; the Samui retreat stands fully on its own.

Where you stay

One property, chosen with intention

There are 88 villas at Banyan Tree Samui and only eight of them are Wellbeing Sanctuary villas. Every one has a 35sqm private infinity pool, a dedicated Villa Host, and access to one of just four private beaches on Koh Samui, with the house reef beginning at the waterline. We book this property because the programme cannot be replicated elsewhere on the island, the beach, the reef, the Rainforest spa circuit, and a resident Wellbeing Practitioner in one place. The limitation in inventory is a feature, not a caveat.

Koh Samui
Five nights

Koh Samui

Banyan Tree Samui · Wellbeing Sanctuary Pool Villas · five nights

  • One of only four resorts on Koh Samui with a private beach, accessible directly from the resort; the house reef begins at the waterline, the sea day is an extension of the property, not a departure from it.
  • Every Wellbeing Sanctuary Pool Villa is a programme environment, not just a room: a 35sqm private infinity pool, a dedicated Villa Host, an in-villa smartphone, and a sleep-enhancement setup with in-villa wellbeing amenities.
  • Only five Wellbeing Sanctuary Pool Villas and three partial-ocean-view villas exist across the entire 88-villa resort, eight in total. Availability is genuinely limited; lead time matters.
  • The award-winning spa anchors the programme. Its Rainforest hydrothermal and hydrotherapy circuit is included for five-night Sanctuary guests as part of the earned complement.
  • For mixed groups or retreat operators bringing participants at different budget levels, Pai Dai can hold multiple villa categories on the same property simultaneously and coordinate the property mix.
  • Located 19km from Samui Airport and 10 minutes from Lamai, close enough to reach easily, far enough from the noise.

Your guide

One practitioner, one team, the whole stay

Credentials

Your on-property Wellbeing Practitioner is Bikram Keshari Patra, based permanently at Banyan Tree Samui's Wellbeing Sanctuary. Bikram conducts the structured arrival assessment, reviews your health baseline daily, customises and adjusts the programme throughout your stay, prepares nightly rest rituals, and authors your personalised take-home wellbeing guide at departure. On the ground-handling side, your Pai Dai host manages arrival, the private sea day, and all Thailand logistics, a single contact from airport to departure.

English. Resort team includes Thai-speaking staff throughout.

Guiding ratio

One dedicated Wellbeing Practitioner per retreat; one Villa Host per villa. Group-hosted retreats maintain the same per-villa staffing ratio, the model does not dilute with group size.

When to travel

The Gulf sets the calendar

Best months

February through April and June through August are the driest and calmest months on Koh Samui and the Gulf of Thailand coast, the most reliable windows for the private sea day and open-water activities. The northeast monsoon runs roughly October through December, bringing the heaviest rainfall and roughest Gulf seas of the year, with some marine park access affected. Note that Koh Samui's pattern is the inverse of Phuket and the Andaman coast.

Weather, and how we adapt

Koh Samui sits on the Gulf of Thailand and follows the northeast monsoon pattern, a different rhythm from Phuket and the Andaman coast. The dry, reliably calm corridors are broadly February to April and June to August, which deliver the clearer skies and calmer water the sea day was built around; September is transitional. October through December sees the most rainfall and the least predictable sea conditions. The resort and wellness programme operate year-round; the Sense of the Sea charter is weather-dependent, and we adjust its route or timing and confirm with your contact in advance.

Good to know

Before you ask

Why does Pai Dai run this retreat rather than just referring us to the resort directly?+

The Wellbeing Sanctuary is a resort product; the retreat is our product. We add the airport-to-villa logistics, the curated private Sense of the Sea sea day (a fixed-price private charter, not a shared tour), a single named contact who carries your group from arrival to departure, and the option to extend the journey into Vietnam as one seamless booking. For retreat leaders or operators bringing a group, we also manage the supplier compliance and host layer that resort bookings alone do not cover.

Why five nights specifically?+

Five nights is the threshold at which the programme unlocks two meaningful inclusions: a complimentary 60-minute body treatment for two and a 60-minute Rainforest hydrotherapy experience for two. Beyond the inclusions, five nights is simply enough time, the eight-pillar programme has an assessment day, a grounding phase, the sea day, a nourishment day, and an integration day before departure. Compressing it loses the sequencing.

How scarce is the Wellbeing Sanctuary inventory, and when should we book?+

Very. There are only eight Wellbeing Sanctuary villas at Banyan Tree Samui, five Wellbeing Sanctuary Pool Villas and three partial-ocean-view villas across the whole property. This is not a standard room category that opens and closes with demand. For peak-season travel (February to April, June to August) or group bookings occupying multiple villas, we recommend approaching us at least three to four months out. We will be direct about availability from the first conversation and hold dates while you finalise the group.

What happens to the sea day if weather is unfavourable?+

The Sense of the Sea charter is weather-dependent, and the Gulf of Thailand's northeast monsoon (October to December) can affect open-water conditions. Your Pai Dai contact monitors forecasts and confirms the route with you in advance. If conditions require a change, we adjust the day, route, timing, or activity focus, in coordination with the Banyan Tree Leisure Host, and re-route to calmer leeward options such as Around Koh Samui or the Five Islands Sunset Cruise where needed. The boat is always private; you are never joining other guests.

We are a retreat leader bringing our own group. Can Pai Dai handle the host and facilitator compliance layer?+

This is exactly the use case we are built for. Pai Dai operates as the ground handler and operator-of-record in Thailand: supplier contracting, logistics, transfers, the sea day, and the host and facilitation compliance layer that retreat operators need when bringing groups into a foreign market. The resort runs the wellness programme; we run everything around it. We can also combine multiple villa categories within the same group booking so a mixed group travels together.

Can the retreat extend into Vietnam?+

It can, and this is one of the few things only a Thailand-and-Vietnam DMC can offer seamlessly. A Vietnam wellness or nature leg can follow Koh Samui as a single itinerary, with one contact handling both countries and no handoff between separate providers. The extension is entirely optional and shaped to follow the retreat's tone; the Samui retreat stands fully on its own. Raise it when you first contact us and we will build the arc together.
