This is the Vietnam honeymoon we run for couples who want the country's three defining registers in one unhurried trip: the old quiet of Hanoi, a private night among the limestone islands of the bay, and a long beach close at the end with nothing on it. It is a fully independent journey for two, not a group departure, shaped around the two of you and carried from the airport on the first morning to the departure gate on the last by a single Pai Dai contact. Our job is the part most couples do not want to think about on a honeymoon. Pai Dai handles the Vietnam logistics end to end: the airport meet-and-greet, every private transfer, the boutique five-star room in Hanoi held before you arrive, the private cabin on a luxury overnight cruise, the domestic flight to the coast, and the beachfront resort villa booked early and on purpose. You travel as a private couple throughout, with a private guide and driver on the touring days and the freedom of an empty diary on the rest. Eight nights is the length that lets a honeymoon breathe across a country this long. Two nights settle you into Hanoi, one night puts the bay at the heart of the trip rather than at the edge of it, and five unhurried nights on the Hoi An and Da Nang coast give you a lantern town, a couples spa day, an optional island, and the kind of slow beach mornings a honeymoon is actually for. We book the rooms early, we keep the days private, and once the trip begins we stay out of the way.

Day by Day

Eight nights, paced for two

Arrival in the Old City
Hanoi
1

Arrival in the Old City

Morning

Your Pai Dai host meets the two of you beyond the immigration hall at Noi Bai International Airport, where a private car is already waiting at the kerb. The run into the centre takes around forty minutes, and the drive is the first quiet briefing of the trip, an unhurried sketch of the eight days ahead with nothing for either of you to arrange.

Afternoon

Check-in to your boutique five-star, set on the edge of the Old Quarter within walking reach of Hoan Kiem Lake. Your room is confirmed before you reach the desk and the afternoon is left open by design: a slow walk to the lake, a coffee on a quiet street, or simply the room after a long flight.

Evening

A first sunset over Hoan Kiem Lake, the red The Huc bridge catching the last light, then dinner at your own pace. Nothing is scheduled tonight on purpose. The trip starts gently; the only plan for the first evening is that there is no plan.

Hanoi, Slowly and in Private
Hanoi
2

Hanoi, Slowly and in Private

Morning

A private morning with your guide through the parts of Hanoi that reward a slow pace: the thirty-six guild streets of the Old Quarter, each historically given to a single trade, and the Temple of Literature, the country's first university, founded in 1070, with its courtyards and the stone stelae of the scholars who passed the royal examinations. The pace is yours, and the car shadows the walk so nothing is a march.

Afternoon

Across the red The Huc bridge to Ngoc Son Temple on its island in Hoan Kiem Lake, then time in the French Quarter, the tree-lined boulevards and the cafes, with the afternoon kept light enough to fold in whatever the two of you would rather do instead.

Evening

An evening at leisure. Your host can reserve a quiet table at one of the city's better restaurants, or leave the night entirely open for a walk around the lake as the city softens and the lights come up on the water.

Out onto the Bay
Lan Ha Bay, private overnight cruise
3

Out onto the Bay

Morning

A late breakfast, then a private transfer east to the coast, roughly two and a half hours through the delta to the embarkation pier. Your guide travels with you and uses the drive to brief on the cruise and the bay. We board on the quieter Lan Ha and Ha Long side, away from the busiest day lanes.

Afternoon

Board your luxury overnight cruise in the early afternoon and settle into a private cabin with its own balcony over the water. The programme is gentle and private: kayaking through narrow limestone passages that no motor can reach, a swim off a quiet beach, and time on the sundeck as the karst towers slide past.

Evening

Sunset cocktails on the deck as the boat anchors away from the day routes, then a long dinner served on board, built around seafood landed by the families who work the bay. The night is silent out here, the islands black against the stars, the two of you and the water.

If the season shifts

If a winter swell or a maritime advisory closes the open bay on your scheduled date, we move to the more sheltered Lan Ha departure or shift the embarkation within your stay, and brief you before you leave Hanoi. The cabin and the cruise are always private to the two of you.

Sunrise on the Water, then South to the Sea
Ha Long Bay to the coast
4

Sunrise on the Water, then South to the Sea

Morning

Tai chi on the top deck at first light for whoever wants it, or simply coffee on the balcony as the bay turns from grey to green. A bamboo rowboat takes you quietly past a floating fishing village before the junk lifts anchor and turns for the pier.

Afternoon

Brunch on board, then disembarkation and a private transfer to the airport for the short domestic flight south to Da Nang. Your Pai Dai contact has cross-checked the timings; there is nothing to organise on the way. A private car meets you on arrival for the run to the coast.

Evening

Arrival at your beachfront resort on An Bang Beach, the room or pool villa confirmed in advance, the sea a few steps from the door. The evening is yours, a first dinner by the water and an early night after a day that crossed the country.

The Lantern Town on the Thu Bon
Hoi An
5

The Lantern Town on the Thu Bon

Morning

A slow start by the sea, then a private transfer the short distance into Hoi An, the old trading port that is the loveliest town in the country to walk. With your guide, the merchant houses, the Japanese Covered Bridge over its small canal, and the tailor shops, all within the pedestrian core where no car comes.

Afternoon

Time of your own in the Ancient Town: a fitting at a tailor if you want a piece made overnight, a riverside coffee, or the quiet lanes away from the centre. The afternoon is unstructured by design, the guide on call rather than at your shoulder.

Evening

The old town after dark, when the silk lanterns come on and hold their colour against the river. A paper lantern set on the Thu Bon at dusk, a candlelit dinner in a courtyard house, and the walk back through lanes lit only by lanterns and water.

The Resort, and a Day for the Two of You
Hoi An and Da Nang coast
6

The Resort, and a Day for the Two of You

Morning

A morning that belongs only to the beach. An Bang stretches long and open in front of the resort, the loungers and thatched shades a few steps from the room, and the pool or the villa terrace for whoever would rather not move at all.

Afternoon

A couples treatment at the resort spa, arranged and timed in advance so there is no booking to chase, taken side by side. The rest of the afternoon stays empty, by intention. A honeymoon needs at least one day with nothing scheduled on it, and this is that day.

Evening

A private candlelit dinner arranged on the sand or by the pool as the light goes, a quiet evening built around the two of you rather than a programme. This is the night the middle of the trip is shaped around.

The River, the Herb Village, and the Lanterns
Hoi An and the coast
7

The River, the Herb Village, and the Lanterns

Morning

A gentle private morning out through the edges of Hoi An: the Tra Que herb gardens that have fed the town for generations, a flat cycle or a slow walk along the river, and the craft villages where pottery and carpentry still work the old way. Optionally, a private boat to the Cham Islands marine reserve replaces the morning when the sea is calm and the two of you want a day on the water.

Afternoon

A hands-on cooking class at a riverside kitchen for those who want it, a short market walk for the ingredients and then a few dishes of the Central Vietnamese table, followed by a lunch of what you have cooked. Or simply the resort, the beach, and the pool, kept entirely open.

Evening

A last evening among the lanterns of the old town, the river quiet, the reflections doubling the light on the water. A relaxed dinner and an unhurried walk back, the kind of ordinary romantic night that a honeymoon is built to make room for.

If the season shifts

The Cham Islands charter is weather-dependent and runs in the calmer season; if the sea is unsuitable, the day stays on the mainland with the herb village, the river, and the town, and the island time is offered later in the stay if a window opens.

The Marble Mountains and the Last Long Beach Day
Da Nang
8

The Marble Mountains and the Last Long Beach Day

Morning

A short private drive to the Marble Mountains, five limestone-and-marble outcrops above the coast riddled with caves and small pagodas, with views back over the long line of the beach. The walk is gentle and the morning unhurried, back at the resort well before the heat. Optionally, a half-day to Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge can replace the morning for couples who want the mountain gardens and the famous span.

Afternoon

The last full afternoon on the coast, left open. The beach, the pool, a final spa hour if you want one, or a long lunch by the water and nothing after it. The day belongs to the two of you.

Evening

A final evening on An Bang Beach as the resort lights come on, a last dinner by the sea, and an unrushed close to the trip.

Departure and the Onward Journey
Da Nang, departure
9

Departure and the Onward Journey

Morning

A final breakfast by the water and a leisurely checkout arranged around your flight rather than the resort's clock. A last walk on the beach if the timing allows; your Pai Dai contact confirmed the transfer the evening before, so there is nothing to organise on the morning itself.

Afternoon

A private transfer collects you from the door to Da Nang International Airport. Flight details are cross-checked in advance, and for couples extending into a Thailand leg the Bangkok connection runs on most afternoon schedules from Da Nang. The only thing left to do is leave.

Evening

-

If the season shifts

For couples who want to keep going, a Phuket or Koh Samui beach leg can follow Vietnam as a single trip, one operator and one point of contact across both countries. The extension is optional; the Vietnam honeymoon stands fully on its own.

We handle everything around the honeymoon, across two regions and one country, so the only thing the two of you have to do is be on it.
Where you stay

Three places, chosen for the romance

A honeymoon across Vietnam needs three very different rooms, and we book each for the two of you on purpose: a boutique five-star in old Hanoi, a private balcony cabin on a luxury overnight cruise among the limestone islands, and a beachfront villa on the Hoi An and Da Nang coast for the long, slow close. We hold the romantic categories early, because the best cabins and the pool villas are the most requested rooms on this route.

Hanoi
Nights 1-2

Hanoi

Boutique five-star, Old Quarter edge, two nights

  • A boutique five-star on the edge of the Old Quarter, chosen for character and quiet rather than scale, within walking reach of Hoan Kiem Lake and the lantern-lit lanes.
  • We book the room category for the two of you in advance and confirm it before arrival, so the first afternoon is yours and not the front desk's.
  • Walking distance to the lake, the red The Huc bridge, the thirty-six guild streets, and the French Quarter cafes, with the private car on call for anything further.
  • Two nights in one property settles the start of the trip and removes any mid-city repack before the bay.
Lan Ha and Ha Long Bay
Night 3

Lan Ha and Ha Long Bay

Private cabin on a luxury overnight cruise, one night

  • A private balcony cabin on a luxury overnight cruise, selected for cabin comfort, deck space, and a route that anchors away from the day-cruise traffic.
  • All meals are included from embarkation, the kitchen works around anything you tell us in advance, and the programme stays on your schedule rather than a coach timetable.
  • We board on the quieter Lan Ha and Ha Long side and choose junks rated for the bay in normal winter conditions, watching the forecast in the week before you sail.
  • Luggage you do not need for the night is held at the Hanoi side so the two of you travel light on board.
Hoi An and Da Nang coast
Nights 4-8

Hoi An and Da Nang coast

Luxury beachfront resort on An Bang Beach, five nights

  • A luxury beachfront resort on An Bang Beach, a room or private pool villa with the sea a few steps from the door and Hoi An a short transfer away.
  • Five nights in one property is the heart of the honeymoon: a couples spa, the long beach, the pool, and the optional days into the town and out to the islands, all from a single base with no repacking.
  • We hold the villa category early; the most romantic rooms are a small share of any good resort on this coast and the most requested.
  • Close enough to Hoi An to walk its lanes in an evening and to Da Nang for the Marble Mountains, far enough to keep the quiet of the beach.
Your guide

One contact, the whole honeymoon

Credentials

This is a privately hosted honeymoon for two, not a group departure. A single Pai Dai contact carries the whole trip, from the airport meet-and-greet to the final transfer, holding the rooms, the private cruise cabin, the domestic flight, and every transfer so neither of you manages a booking. A licensed private guide and driver join you for the touring days in Hanoi, Hoi An, and Da Nang; the rest of the days are yours, unguided and open.

Languages

English throughout on the Pai Dai side, with Vietnamese-speaking teams at every property and on the cruise. A French, Spanish, German, or Italian speaking private guide can be arranged on request when confirmed at booking.

Guiding ratio

A private two-person itinerary. The cruise cabin and every transfer are exclusive to the two of you, never shared with another group.

What's included
  • Airport meet-and-greet and all private transfers throughout Vietnam, from Hanoi arrival to Da Nang departure
  • Two nights in a boutique five-star in Hanoi, secured in advance, with daily breakfast

  • Five nights in a luxury beachfront resort room or private pool villa on An Bang Beach, with daily breakfast
  • Domestic flight Hanoi to Da Nang, including luggage allowance
  • Private licensed guide for the touring days in Hanoi and on the Hoi An and Da Nang coast
  • A couples spa treatment at the resort, arranged and timed before arrival
  • A private candlelit dinner for two arranged at the resort
  • A paper lantern release and a private evening in Hoi An Ancient Town
  • A single Pai Dai ground contact coordinating every detail of the Vietnam trip throughout the honeymoon

  • Vietnam visa or e-visa, where applicable to the traveller's passport
  • Travel and medical insurance for international travel, which is required
  • Meals beyond those listed, and drinks beyond those provided
  • Optional activities, including the Cham Islands charter and the Ba Na Hills and Golden Bridge half-day, where these require additional entry or vessel hire

  • Optional Phuket or Koh Samui honeymoon extension, available as a seamless add-on through Pai Dai
When to travel

Two coasts, one calendar

Best months

November through April is the most reliable window across the full route, when the centre and north are at their driest and coolest. Hoi An can take heavy rain from September into November, and Ha Long Bay is most reliably calm from late October onward, so a cool-season honeymoon usually finds the best of both the bay and the coast. For travel in the December and January peak we recommend approaching us three to four months out, as the better cruise cabins and the romantic resort villas on this coast book earliest.

Weather, and how we adapt

Vietnam is long, and the honeymoon crosses two climates. The north around Hanoi and Ha Long Bay can be cool and misty in winter, sometimes near 10 degrees Celsius, with the bay windiest from November through March, so we select cruises rated for the bay in normal winter conditions and watch the forecast before you sail. The central coast at Hoi An and Da Nang takes its heaviest rain from September through November and is warm and beach-ready from late winter through summer. The resort, the spa, and the town run year-round; the cruise and the optional Cham Islands charter are weather-dependent, and we adjust route or timing and confirm with your contact in advance.

Good to know

Before you ask

Why book this through Pai Dai rather than arranging the hotels and the cruise ourselves?+

The rooms and the cruise are bookings; the honeymoon is our product. We add the airport-to-room logistics across two regions, the boutique and resort categories secured in advance, the private cruise cabin, the domestic flight tied into the transfers, a private guide on the touring days, and a single named contact who carries the trip from arrival to departure. On a honeymoon, the value is not having to manage any of it yourselves, and being able to extend the trip into Thailand as one seamless booking.

Is this a private trip for two, or a group tour?+

It is fully private. There is no group, no fixed departure, and no shared coach. The itinerary is built around the two of you, the cruise cabin and every transfer are exclusive, and the guided days use a private guide and driver. The unguided days are entirely yours. We simply hold the whole trip together behind the scenes.

Why eight nights, and why this shape?+

Eight nights is the length that lets a honeymoon breathe across a country this long without rushing. Two nights settle you into Hanoi, one night puts the bay at the centre of the trip rather than at its edge, and five unhurried nights on the coast give you a lantern town, a couples spa day, an optional island, and the slow beach mornings a honeymoon is actually for. Shorter and the trip becomes a transfer schedule; this length keeps it a honeymoon.

Which rooms should we book, and how far ahead?+

The most romantic categories, the better cruise cabins with private balconies and the pool villas on the coast, are a small share of any good property and the most requested, especially in the November to April peak. For peak-season travel we recommend approaching us at least three to four months out, and we will hold dates while you finalise.

What happens to the cruise or the island day if the weather turns?+

Both are weather-dependent and we plan for it. The bay is windiest in winter, so we select cruises rated for normal winter conditions, watch the forecast in the week before you sail, and move to the more sheltered Lan Ha departure or shift the embarkation if an advisory closes the open bay. The Cham Islands charter runs in the calmer season; if the sea is unsuitable, the coastal day stays on the mainland and the island time is offered later in the stay if a window opens. Your contact confirms everything in advance.

Can the honeymoon extend beyond Vietnam?+

Yes, and this is one of the few things a Thailand and Vietnam DMC can offer seamlessly. A Phuket or Koh Samui beach leg can follow Vietnam as a single itinerary, with one contact across both countries and no handoff between separate providers. The extension is optional and shaped to your tone; the Vietnam honeymoon stands fully on its own.
