Is this trip more about the culture or the beach?+
It is built culture first, beach second. The first five days read the heritage of the centre and the north, Bangkok, a day at the ruins of Ayutthaya and two days around Chiang Mai, before the route turns south to the Andaman coast for the island finish. Travellers who want the reverse weighting, more beach and less touring, are better suited to a southern-islands itinerary that we can build on the same ground team.
How do the internal flights work?+
Two short domestic flights carry the route, Bangkok to Chiang Mai on the morning of day four and Chiang Mai to Phuket on the morning of day six. Both are included and booked with the group, and the guide handles the airport logistics at each end so the flying days stay simple.
When is the best time for the Andaman beach?+
November to April is the clear, calm season on the Andaman and the best window for the island day. Through the southwest monsoon, roughly mid-May to mid-October, the Surin Islands national park closes and the open-water crossings are rougher, so in those months the marine day runs to Phi Phi Leh and the more sheltered lower Andaman. The culture half of the trip travels well year round.
What is your elephant welfare standard?+
Four floors, and a venue has to clear all four: no riding, no bathing or washing by visitors, no hand-feeding or unbarriered contact, and no performances. The venue on this route is currently under verification against them, and clearance is pending, so we are not claiming it meets the standard yet. What we can say is that the venue appears on World Animal Protection's elephant-friendly venue list, reviewed December 2025. That is an independent listing rather than a certification, and it is not a substitute for our own inspection, which is the step still outstanding. We confirm the specific venue in writing when we quote, together with where its assessment stands. Where no venue clears the four floors for your dates, we will tell you so rather than substitute one that does not.
Can the island portion be changed or extended?+
Yes. The Andaman base can move from Phuket to Khao Lak or Krabi, the marine day can be swapped between the Surin Islands, Phi Phi and Phang Nga depending on the season, and the beach stay extends easily for groups who want longer on the coast. Any change is built onto the same ground team and quoted to the group.
Does this route work for both travel partners and direct travellers?+
Yes. We run the same nine-day journey with the same ground team and operational care whether it is booked by a travel partner placing a group or by direct travellers planning a private departure. Pricing is quote-based and tailored to group size, season and the level of inclusion you need.
